Welcome to the official web-site for the Kent Appropriate Adult Service, Volunteering Excellence Award Winner 2005

Our volunteers play a vital role in providing advice, assistance and support to young people and vulnerable adults in police custody in Kent.

The law requires that young people up to the age of 16 and vulnerable adults should have an appropriate adult with them when they are interviewed by the police. Normally, this is the parent, guardian or carer. However, when they can't be there, Kent Police call for one of volunteers.

Last year our volunteers attended custody suites across Kent on more than 1400 occasions.

We now need more volunteers to join our team in 2010. Could you be one? We are particularly keen to hear from people who can volunteer to attend custody suites at Margate, North Kent, Sittingbourne and Tonbridge.

To find out more about this vital and fulfilling role, click on the volunteers button above or call us on 01622 683948.
